On June 8, 2018, The President of Russia Vladimir Putin arrived in the People’s Republic of China on a state visit at the invitation of President of China Xi Jinping. A number of bilateral documents were signed following the consultations, including a Joint Statement of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China. The both presidents also made statements for the press.
In the Joint Statement of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, the Parties emphasize the need to continue to work together to ensure a comprehensive practical cooperation and reached agreement on the implementation of a number of important tasks, including the following:
15) the deepening of cooperation in agriculture, the consistent opening of markets for mutual access of agricultural products; intensification of cooperation in the field of inspection and quarantine for ensuring veterinary and phytosanitary security; supporting the participation of companies in agrarian fairs and exhibitions; support for the development of practical cooperation in such areas as investment in agriculture, trade in agricultural products, fisheries, agricultural science and technology; joint making the plan for the development of agriculture in the Far East and the Baikal region of Russia and in Northeast China;
16) construction of a new and modernization of existing trans-border transport infrastructure, reduction of time for customs clearance, increase in the volume of transit traffic from China through Russia, development of international transport routes and corridors passing through the territories of the two countries;
