The project of the Zabaikalsk Terminal for transshipment of grain to China has become closer to realityChina is interested in increasing soybean purchases from Russia

«Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk» LLC became a resident of the territory of advanced social and economic development «Transbaikalia». The company intends to build a grain railway terminal in the village of Zabaikalsk, Sibnovosti.ru correspondent reports.

According to the regional government, the annual volume of transshipment of grain crops from Russian railway cars to Chinese ones will reach 8 million tons. The total volume of investments under the agreement concluded with «Corporation for the Development of the Far East» JSC amounted 8.9 billion rubles. Construction will start in early 2020.

The website of the «Grain Terminal Zabaikalsk» states that the company is an authorized operator for the construction and operation of the «First Grain Railway Terminal Zabaikalsk-Manchuria». The possibility of construction of this terminal has been discussed since 2015. During this period, the Chinese side has built two huge terminals in Manchuria, as was mentioned by some participants of the meeting on the project «New Land Grain Corridor «Russia — China», which took place in Novosibirsk in May of the current year.
